PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW

The Philadelphia Flower Show showcases natural beauty at the very heart of Philadelphia. These exhibits vary in beauty and the many flowers they wish to showcase. The 2025 theme, “Gardens of Tomorrow,” envisions a globally, environmentally ethical world coexisting with humanity.

HISTORY BEHIND PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW

Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love, holds various old and new traditions alike that shape our culture as Pennsylvanians. Of them, includes the Philadelphia’s Flower Show, which happens to be our nation’s biggest and longest horticultural event in history. This show features various artwork displays done from designers around the world. It originally started in 1829 by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and has been done every year since. According to the society’s mission statement, they wish to fundraise and “to use horticulture to improve the health and well-being of the Greater Philadelphia region.”

196TH YEAR OF BEAUTY

The event took place from March 1 to March 9, 2025. This year’s breathtaking beauty capitalizes on “Gardens of Tomorrow,” which encourages us to think about a futuristic tomorrow in which our current actions help the planet for the better.

Both displays pictured, “Bloom Where You Are Planted” (Image 1) and “The Nexus” (Image 2), depict a plausible future reality in which we come together and evolve both futuristically in technology, and environmentally conscious and considerate. The first display, “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” envisions a classroom of evolved education where plants serve as teaching tools. The second display, “The Nexus,” showcases evolutions in urbanization, as exemplified by neon lights and wiring, whilst being environmentally conscious to living non-sentient beings, or creatures that cannot feel pain or pleasure like animals do.

TAKE A GANDER AT YOURSELF

Alongside the intriguing displays, the Philadelphia Flower Show features fascinating shopping vendors, and I highly encourage taking a look in person at the breathtaking beauty! Every year, the theme changes, and so can the vendors! Many vendors display various people’s creative works, such as glass making, drying flowers, and preserving specimens such as butterflies. The event also features their very own butterfly room for the week-long occasion! However, the butterfly exhibit is subject to varying times. Every part, from the shopping to the breathtaking exhibits, is a sight to see!
